Model Settings Reference

VDI/DaaS model settings are organized into four categories. Each category has its own reference article with field-level descriptions, accepted values, and configuration guidance.

The same settings appear in two places. During model creation, they are collected through the model creation wizard. After creation, they can be reviewed and updated from the model editor, which exposes them as tabs.

Settings Categories

Category Description
General Settings The provider, the credentials used to reach it, the template that defines the underlying VM (built-in blueprint or custom Terraform), and the provider-specific parameters. Covers every supported provider — OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP, IONOS, VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox VE, Oracle KVM, and Verge.IO.
Provisioning and Pooling Options Connection Mode, pool sizing and session distribution (Pool Mode), the deployment trigger, instance count fields, dynamic vs. manual user assignment, and the instance naming prefix.
Power and Scheduling Settings When instances power on and power off — on demand, on a schedule, or both — and the idle timeout that governs post-disconnect shutdown.
Destroy Settings When instances are automatically destroyed and permanently removed from the provider infrastructure.

Where Settings Appear in the UI

Each wizard step captures a subset of model settings. After creation, the same settings are reachable from the model editor — but the editor groups them differently. Some editor tabs consolidate fields from several wizard steps (notably General), and some wizard steps don’t have a dedicated editor tab.

Wizard Step Model Editor Tab
Provider selection (Step 1) Not editable after creation
Model Selector (built-in blueprint or Custom radio) Templates
Credentials General
Template (Custom path only) Templates
Parameters Parameters
Access (Connection Mode, Pool Mode, Use naming prefix) General
Deploy (deployment trigger and instance counts) Deploy
Power Power
Destroy Destroy
Finish Model Configuration (Name, Description) General

The model editor’s General tab also exposes the model’s State (Active or Inactive), which is set after creation rather than in the wizard.

Some wizard steps and editor tabs are conditional on the model type — for example, Managed VMs skip the Deploy and Templates steps and use a Filters tab instead. See VDI/DaaS Models for the per-mode flow.
