Destroy Settings
Destroy settings define when instances provisioned from a model are automatically destroyed — permanently removed from both Cloud Manager and the cloud provider infrastructure.
The full set of settings lives in the model editor’s Destroy tab. The model creation wizard captures the same settings in its Destroy step.
Destroy vs. Power Off
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Power off | The VM is shut down but remains registered in Cloud Manager and in the provider. It can be powered back on. Configured in Power and Scheduling Settings. |
| Destroy | The VM is permanently deleted from the provider. All associated resources (disk, NIC, IP) are released. The instance record is removed from Cloud Manager. This action is irreversible. |
Destroying an instance is irreversible. Any user data stored locally on the VM is permanently lost.
Destroy Modes
Never
Instances persist indefinitely until an administrator manually destroys them. This is the default. Use Never for persistent desktop environments where users return to the same VM state across sessions.
Scheduled
Instances are automatically destroyed at a specific date and time defined by the administrator.
Destroy at: The date and time at which instances provisioned from this model are permanently destroyed. Must be set to a future date and time.
This is a one-time event, not a recurring schedule. Cloud Manager destroys the matching instances once, at the configured datetime. To schedule destruction again, set a new future datetime.
destroys instances at the scheduled datetime even if they are powered off.
does not check for active user sessions before executing a scheduled destruction. If users are connected at the configured Destroy at time, their sessions are terminated as the underlying VMs are deleted.
