Desktop Client
Overview
The Desktop Client is a Windows-native application that extends Thinfinity® Workspace to the desktop. It relies on an existing Thinfinity Workspace environment and provides a local alternative to web-based access.
The Desktop Client supports multiple protocols — RDP, VNC, and SSH — and features such as ThinPrint, with integrated ZTNA security enforced on its connections. It provides these in a single application, so separate standalone clients are not required.
Capabilities
- Native Peripheral Access: Within a virtual desktop session, the Desktop Client interfaces directly with local peripherals — printers, scanners, and USB devices — without the configuration that browser-based peripheral redirection requires.
- Native RDP Integration: Operating as a local RDP client, it establishes a fully integrated remote desktop connection, with the Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) policies of Thinfinity Workspace enforced on the connection.
- Unified SSH Access: The Desktop Client includes a built-in SSH client based on the PuTTY engine, for terminal access to Linux and Unix systems, file transfers, and remote command execution — without a separate SSH utility.
- Secure File Transfers: It supports direct, encrypted file transfers between local and remote systems over TLS-secured channels. No separate FTP client is required.
- Native Application: As a Windows-native application, the Desktop Client runs outside the browser. It applies to scenarios that require peripheral redirection, persistent sessions, or local RDP performance.
