Installing Thinfinity Workspace

Thinfinity® Workspace provides a single installer for all deployed nodes. The specific role for the installed server/node within the network can be selected after installation or changed later as needed.

Here is a table that details the available roles and their respective functions within the deployed architecture.

Role/Setup Description
All-in-one Enables all Components and Services on the same computer, recommended for evaluation and testing purposes.
Gateway Enables only the Gateway Services. Works together with one or more Brokers (Primary and Secondary). In scaling and load balancing environments, multiple Gateway instances can operate concurrently to enhance performance and redundancy.
Primary Broker Enables only the Primary Broker Services. As a standalone configuration, it functions in conjunction with the Gateway. In scenarios involving scaling and load balancing, multiple Primary Brokers operate concurrently and register with one or multiple Gateways.
Secondary Broker Enables only the Secondary Broker with the Services needed for scaling and load balancing scenarios.
AD Cache Enables the services that allow the configuration of a remote Active Directory environment for user and group management.

An additional role is available - the Thinfinity Workspace Agent (or simply the Agent) - which offers an alternative deployment method: direct installation on the target machine. A separate installation package is provided for the Agent. For more information, please refer to Virtualization Agent section in this manual.

The Desktop Client or Thinfinity Workspace Desktop Client is a specialized Windows native application designed to provide an alternative to the standard web-browser-based access. Like the Agent, it has its own dedicated installation package.

Thinfinity Workspace supports silent installation across all nodes, which allows for automated, command-line-based deployments without user intervention.

Install and configure the roles in this order: Gateway first, then Primary Broker, then optionally Secondary Broker and AD Cache — the latter offered only on domain-joined machines. The Agent, in Workspace or VirtualUI mode, comes last and is installed from its own package.
