Remote Desktops: RDC Access Profile
In Thinfinity® Workspace, remote desktops can be published by creating RDC (Remote Desktop Connection) Access Profiles. These allow users to access and control a remote computer over a network or the Internet. Using RDC, users can connect to a remote computer and interact with its desktop environment as if they were sitting in front of it, providing a convenient and efficient solution for remote work, support, and collaboration.
To create an RDC Access Profile and publish your remote desktop, follow these steps:
Launch the Access Profiles Wizard
Select + New Profile in the Thinfinity Workspace dashboard or home page. Alternatively, select + Add in the Access Profiles tab of the Web Manager.
The ability to see the New Profile button on the home page or the Access Profiles tab within the Web Manager depends on the specific rights assigned to a user by the admin. Additionally, the global UI settings for the current Thinfinity Workspace installation may also influence access.

Select an Access Profile Type
Select Desktop and select Next.
Choose the Desktop Connection Type
Select the RDC desktop connection, then select Next.
Set Up the Connection
Choose the desktop you want to publish:
- This PC: This is the default selection and publishes the desktop of the current computer.
- Another PC: Publishes the desktop of a different computer. In this case, you must also provide the target PC’s IP address and, optionally, a Broker Pool name (depending on your deployment configuration).

| Agent ID | Creates a connection to a remote desktop where Thinfinity Workspace is installed as an Agent. |
| Agent Pool | Creates a connection to an Agent Pool. |
| Managed VMs | Creates a connection to an existing VM. |
| VDI/DaaS Models | Creates a connection to a VDI model. |
| Broker Pool | Specify the broker pool name to manage the current Access Profile, then select Next. |
Select the Authentication Method
From the Credentials dropdown, choose how to handle authentication for this resource then select Next.
| Credentials option | Description |
|---|---|
| Use the authenticated credentials | The system automatically passes the same credentials the user provided to log in to the Thinfinity Workspace portal. |
| Ask for new credentials | This is the default option. It requires the user to manually enter their host or domain credentials in a separate prompt before the session is established. |
| Use these credentials | The administrator provides a specific, static set of credentials for this profile. If Dynamic Provisioning is enabled (Create if it doesn’t exist), the system can programmatically create these accounts on the host if they do not already exist. |

Set Permissions
When Allow Anonymous Access is enabled in the installation, it is pre-selected in the Permissions step of the wizard. Simply click Next to continue.
To limit access to specific users or groups, uncheck Allow Anonymous Access and click Add to choose who can access the new Access Profile.

Find users and groups link will only be available when working with Directory Services.
Set the Access Profile Name and Icon
Enter a descriptive name for the new Access Profile, then select an icon for it and select Done to publish your desktop connection.
Configure the Access Profile
The wizard guides you through the essential settings required for the connection to the target resource. Thinfinity Workspace automatically assigns default values for the remaining parameters.
To customize these parameters, access the Settings menu of the Access Profile. Depending on how the home page is configured and the rights granted to each user, the Edit option which grants access to the Settings menu might be available:
- in the home page, from the three vertical dots button of the Access Profile tile as shown below.
or
- in the Access Profiles tab in the Web Manager, as shown below.

Apply the Changes
Select Apply to implement the configured connection parameters.
- If you are defining only one profile, you can use Apply right after configuring all the desired parameters.
- If you are defining several profiles or complex profile configurations, use Apply after you have everything in place.
